No-one pointed out to me how wet Devon gets before I moved. Yes yes I should have got that Devon’s green fields don’t just happen. The first Autumn we were here the road out of Topsham (past the Bridge) flooded shut, so it’s nothing new.

And over the first few years that I was here I lost count of the number of times our house flooded; agreed not always due to the rain. A few poor plumbing outcomes and one errant washing machine upped the count.

Flooding sucks though, it’s horrid, stinky dirty and once wet it takes many months for a house to properly dry out. One house flooded from the bottom up, as the water table would rise so the house started to fill up with water through the ‘solid’ floor.
